Carpinus
Tree with knotty trunk and upright or weeping crown, depending on the variety. The deciduous leaves are light green, oval, 4-10 cm big. The flower blossom together with the foliation, and are joined in hanging yellow catskins. Grows in fertile, permeable and cool soils, whitstands pruning. It is used in gardens, along narrow streets and for medium and tall hedges.
